We were thrilled when Bumbles, the local gift emporium and all round fab shop in Ashtead, wanted to partner up with us. 

We've long loved Bumbles and often head there for our one-stop shop for gifts, cards and more. You can read our review, but we recently stopped by to ask Alice, its owner, all about what makes Bumbles tick. 

Ashtead Living: What inspired you to start your own local shop, and what is the story behind your business? 

Bumbles has been a gift shop in Ashtead village for 25+ years, and I took over from the previous owner 7 years ago. We loved the Bumbles name so decided to keep it but give the brand and shop a whole new look and refresh the products on offer. I have worked within the family business for 8 years and when the opportunity arose to take on Bumbles I was thrilled, I couldn’t wait to have my own little project and provide a new, exciting shop to my local village. 

Ashtead Living: What are you most passionate about when it comes to your shop and the products or services you offer? 

I love buying the products to sell, every item has been personally selected for its quality, design, and individuality. I also think providing 5* customer service is extremely important, so we see the same customers again and again. Having started our loyalty scheme 7 years ago, I am proud to say we have over 500 loyal returning customers.  

Ashtead Living: In your opinion, what sets your shop apart and makes it a unique and great place for customers to visit? 

I believe our products are unique and we purposely source items that you cannot find in your typical high street shop. We support other local businesses and artists too which I think is a special addition to Bumbles. Our team are all friendly, professional, and knowledgeable which I believe is important when building a foundation for a successful business.

Ashtead Living: How do you believe your shop provides a different experience for customers compared to high street chain stores? 

Again, our personally handpicked products and a more personal in store shopping experience with our friendly staff.

Ashtead Living: Are there any products that you are loving at the moment? 

There are so many to choose from, but we have expanded our ladies' fashion and accessories in the last two years and I am loving our beautiful dresses and jewellery.
