As April showers give way to May flowers, Surrey bursts into a riot of colour, with vibrant blooms every where to be seen. While it’s great if those flowers are in your back garden, it’s also great to be able to explore other places in Surrey that show the full beauty of spring in  bloom. 

Here are some of our favourite places to see seasonal flowers in Surrey this April and May.

RHS Garden Wisley

A popular destination throughout the year,  RHS Garden Wisley is a horticultural paradise renowned for its stunning floral displays and extensive plant collections. In spring, the garden comes alive with a kaleidoscope of colours, as daffodils, tulips, and cherry blossoms blanket the landscape. They really are quite the sight to see, plus, you can explore other themed gardens, meander through tranquil woodland walks, and walk through all the jungle like displays in the Glasshouse. With events and activities for all ages, RHS Garden Wisley offers a delightful day out for flower enthusiasts and garden aficionados alike.

Painshill Park

Step back in time at Painshill Park, a breathtaking landscape garden dating back to the 18th century. Spread across 158 acres of rolling hills and picturesque lakes, Painshill is home to a diverse array of spring blooms, including rhododendrons, azaleas, and bluebells. Wander along winding pathways, cross its ornate bridges, and discover hidden follies and its famous grotto. Every Spring and early Summer, Surrey bursts into life.

Winkworth Arboretum

Tucked away in the Surrey Hills, Winkworth Arboretum is a tranquil spot bursting with springtime beauty. As April transitions into May, the arboretum comes alive with a riot of colours, as magnolias, camellias, and azaleas burst into bloom. We massive fans of Claremont Landscape Garden, thanks to its picturesque parkland which boasts sweeping views as well as its pretty lake. In April and May, the garden is ablaze with the vibrant hues of azaleas, rhododendrons, and cherry blossoms. Visitors can explore winding pathways, relax on lush lawns, and admire the architectural marvels of the Belvedere Tower and Amphitheatre. With a rich history dating back to the 18th century, Claremont Landscape Garden offers a fantastic blend of natural beauty and architectural grandeur.

Polesden Lacey
