THE BEST PLACES TO SEE AUTUMN LEAVES IN SURREY

The best places to see Autumn leaves in Surrey.

As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, autumn in Surrey is a wonderful place to explore (when the weather allows!!!). There are countless places to go and see the leaves turn red, orange and yellow before they finally drop to the floor for Winter.

Here are some of our favourite places that we return to year after year to see when the trees have turned. Each has its own unique charm and offers a perfect setting for a morning kicking leaves before retiring somewhere for a coffee and piece of cake!

Winkworth Arboretum: Nestled in the South West corner of Surrey, Winkworth Arboretum is an ideal spot for an autumn getaway. Its diverse collection of trees transforms into a mesmerising display of reds and golds during the Autumn season, creating a picturesque setting for a leisurely walk. It's a stunning landscape and part of the National Trust. Kids love it thanks to the woodland playground, while adults will enjoy the endless views over the valley. Plus, there's always the cafe to buy hot drinks and food. It's situated by the entrance and exit, so it's great motivation for any stragglers.

Address: Hascombe Road, Godalming, Surrey, GU8 4AD

Box Hill Surrey: Box Hill Surrey is a must-visit destination for those seeking panoramic autumn vistas. The rolling hills near Westhumble turn from green to a riot of autumnal colours this time of year, making it a hiker's paradise. It's also a National Trust location, but there's no entrance fee here - though you do have to pay for parking. For kiddies, again, there are a number of play parks dotted around the landscape, but kicking leaves at this time of year often provides entertainment enough.

Address: The Old Fort, Box Hill Road, Tadworth, Surrey, KT20 7LB

RHS Wisley: Located just off the A3, RHS Wisley is a botanical treasure trove that is wonderful to visit all year round. In Autumn, its sights change again, with countless trees turning from green to orange to red. There are so many different sections to the gardens too, so there will be something for everyone, in any type of weather. The glasshouses and learning centre are there for wetter days, as well as a softplay centre in one of the cafes. A playground located to the rear of the park is always a big draw for children, while adults will be thankful of numerous spots to buy a coffee.

Address: Wisley Ln, Wisley, Woking GU23 6QB

Painshill Park: Painshill Park, based in Cobham, becomes a serene oasis during autumn. It's a truly stunning setting for a walk throughout the seasons, though in Autumn it really comes into its own. Most people take a walk around the lake, and through its famous grotto, but there are plenty of other acres to explore too. It offers something a bit different over other country walks as well, thanks to its 'sights' such as the ruined abbey, the gothic temple and follies. The tranquil lakes and woodlands are framed by reflections of changing leaves, creating a picture-perfect scene. It's an idyllic place for leisurely strolls where dogs are welcomed on leads.

Address: Portsmouth Rd, Cobham KT11 1BE

Claremont Landscape Garden: Claremont Landscape Garden, with its historical charm, takes on an enchanting quality in UK's autumn. It too boasts a grotto on the lake, but walks further into the woods will provide hours of fun for the whole family - plus there's its playground with a large castle climbing frame and smaller apparatus for younger children too. In the Autumn, the foliage complements the garden's well-preserved features and provides a stunning backdrop for exploring the estate's rich history.
